An Approach to Netherthorpe

Some photos I took on approach as a student pilot to Netherthorpe Aerodrome (home of Phoenix Flying School). These were taken on my second or third lesson (when I had time to relax whilst the instructor made the landing). Yes there was a bit of a crosswind during landing!.

I am given to believe Runway 18/36 is the shortest licensed grass landing strip in the UK.

A Landing at Netherthorpe

Pilots unfamiliar with Netherthorpe should note it is common practise to try to avoid the hedges immediately adjacent to all runway thresholds. ;-)

	Cessna 150 on final to Rwy 24.		Flaring at Rwy 24.
	Touchdown on Rwy 24.		Roll out down Rwy 24.

Traffic inbound from the north or west should contact Sheffield City App 128.525 for traffic information.

Circuits to 800ft - LH on Rwys 18 and 24, RH on Rwys 06 and 36.

Avoid overflying buildings adjacent to extended centre-lines of runways. Keep clear of village of Thorpe Salvin, 1nm NW of aerodrome. Do not overfly Shireoaks on left base Rwy 24.

Note: Overnight parking by prior arrangement only.
