Up we go into the wild blue yonder........Phoenix Flying School has been in operation for over six years and prides itself on offering a friendly relaxed atmosphere for anyone interested in learning to fly. Their six instructors are all commercial pilots who are currently training 150 students, with approximately 40 becoming fully qualified pilots each year. Several students have progressed to gain their Professional Flying Licence and a career with the airlines.

This Flying School will teach you to be the best kind of pilot - an 'old' pilot.

If you are a 'newcomer' to the world of aviation, particularly that of the Student Pilot, you will no doubt have a great number of questions to ask. At Phoenix there is always a Flying Instructor on hand to answer any questions you might have. Give them a ring (01909 481802), make an appointment or just come along to Netherthorpe airfield for a 'natter'. Phoenix will always be pleased to see you, introduce you to the aircraft, there is no obligation and, most importantly, it will not cost you a penny.

PFA The Popular Flying Association (PFA) is the representative body in the United Kingdom for amateur aircraft construction, recreational, and sport flying. Via its engineering department, the PFA also offers extensive support services to members for the maintanance and certification of their aircraft. Additionally 'pilot members' can take advantage of specialised coaching schemes - for additional experience and type conversions, inexpensive 'Bienneiel flight revalidation services'', discount medical examinations, legal services, and much much more!.

Gene Whitts Home Page A very useful resource for both student and pilot (albit with a North American slant). Articles on a variety of highly detailed aviation related topics by an experienced instructor. Highly recommended for the Student Pilot.

Cessna 150-152's are fun, easy to maintain and fly, and the most affordable used airplanes in plentiful supply.
